If you want to become The Rock Star of the Twitterverse, there are certain rules you must follow in order to maintain your status. Some are common sense, and others are possibly ones you may not think of. So grab your tweet-guitar and let’s get started.
STEP NO. 1:
Become a Great Rock Star Teacher to your followers
People want to learn today. Knowledge is currency in this day and age. If you can help someone achieve a goal, you’ve added much value to their lives.
Never, EVER, enter the Twitterverse by spewing your opportunity or money-making techniques to your followers. There’s not a bigger turn-off than getting a “thank you for following me” message that says “To Increase Your Followers, Click Here,” or “Make Money Online, Click Here.” Messages that get noticed say things like “Join me On Facebook too,” or just “Thanks for following, looking forward to networking with you,” or words to that affect.
See the difference? Leave your fire hose at home when you’re interacting in the social media scene. If people like you, know you and trust you they will become detectives to find out what your opportunity is and be very glad to work with you.
STEP NO. 2:
If you teach your followers something about themselves at the same time that you are teaching them about your subject, you will touch them at a very deep level
When you go to a rock concert you always come out with the feeling that you were touched in some way. One of my favorite singers, and therefore my very favorite concert that I’ve been to so far, is Kenny Chesney. Kenny has a way of stirring emotion like no one else.
When he sings the song “Who You’d Be Today” it makes me think about my sister. He sings the song “Don’t Blink” and it reminds me how precious life is and how fast it passes. He sings a song about his sexy tractor and it just makes me laugh and feel good.
I can go on and on, but you get the point here. If you learn the art of stirring emotions in your followers, every time you pick up that preverbal guitar to strum a few bars, you will have eager and waiting ears to hear what you have to say, AND to pass you on to their followers as well.
STEP NO. 3:
Play the game of follow the leader
When someone follows you, follow them back. And, take it one step further and go check out their profile. When you do, retweet great content. If you retweet them they will notice you and retweet you back.
If you retweet one person who has a following of 10,000 and they retweet you back, your message will be put in front of 10,000 new tweeters. Then, if say just 10 of those retweet you and they have a collective 60,000 followers, you just made yourself visible to that may more hungry tweeters.
